Are You At Your Ideal Weight?

Have you ever thought what is your ideal weight?

Do you know how to obtain the answer for your question?

Basically, our ideal weight is calculated by using a very simple mathematical formula known as Body Mass Index (BMI).

Hmmmm, heard of it but don’t know what is it?

This BMI value involves two different values to determine your ideal weight which are our height and weight. Just with these two known values, our ideal weight can be calculated.

Here’s how:

(Formula taken from Wikipedia :D)

Don’t start calculating your ideal weight yet. Take it easy, k? Read up the rest first.

(I’ll provide you an instant calculator in this post later on)

Looks good enough to eat

So, after calculating those two values, you will obtain your BMI value (kg/m²) and you will then compare that value with the general population. If your BMI value (kg/m²) is:

Less than 14.9 Starvation

From 15 - 18.4 Underweight

From 18.5 - 22.9 Normal

From 23 - 27.5 Overweight

From 27.6 - 40 Obese

I guess you don’t need me to tell you that if you are in the Red Zone, you really need to do something or health problems will start to loom in your life. Most likely cardiovascular diseases and diabetes will surface if no action is taken.

If you are at the Blue Zone, well either you eat more or eat less depending on which blue are you on as well. :D (I’m in the Blue Zone. The one with the word Under- ) If you don’t take care of this, sooner or later you will start falling sick too.

I, myself need to try to gain some more weight. Just abit more and I’ll reach normal. My BMI Value is 18.2 kg/m²

The Green Zone always represents ‘You’re Safe’!!!

If you can’t believe you are at the Red Zone value, don’t fret it out yet as there are a few exceptions for this formula. It does not give a direct measurement of body fatness as it involves the total weight (muscle and fat) so, some people might have a high BMI but low % of body fat due to higher % of muscle mass. Get what I mean?

So, wanna start counting your BMI value now? Have a go~
